I’m a graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design with a BFA in Graphic Design.
I have a style that’s a hybrid of all of my influences and experiences. The distinctive vivid colors of the Pop Art movement, the stylistic prowess of the Harlem Renaissance, the unique storytelling of the world of comics, and the diversity of everyday life.
Having participated in a number of art shows in RAW Natural Born Artist, The Peale Center's Maker's Market, and DoveCote's Juneteenth Maker's Market amongst others, has given me an appreciation of sharing my content with clients far and wide.
My latest work centers around embracing and celebrating African American culture. I look to inspire others with positive images of all genders, shades, shapes, and sizes who normally don’t see themselves portrayed in a positive light.
My motto is, Black Art IS Fine Art; meaning regardless of medium, whether culinary, photograph, music, traditional or digital art, we are the focus and should be celebrated as such.
While my art has always had an element of "blackness" I always got questioned, "Why make black art? Is this even going to sell?"
I felt conflicted.
It wasn't until a series of confrontational experiences with non-African American critics that consistently told me, "we aren't attractive or could be considered fine art or that my artwork embracing or celebrating our blackness isn't art" that I realized my mission: Black art IS fine art.
It was from that point on I decided to create art to celebrate black and brown people unapologetically, and work with small businesses and help them grow and see themselves in media and spaces we're not normally seen in.
Creating visual content inspired by life, my surroundings, and culture is so important. the distinctive vivid colors of the Pop Art movement, the stylistic prowess of the Harlem Renaissance, the world building of greats like Jacob Lawrence, the unique storytelling of the world of comics, and the diversity of everyday life inform my art and design is inspiring ways.
I use many different mediums, such as acrylics, coffee, digital, mixed media, and watercolor. Like my subject matter, each piece of art and design is unique and no two pieces are ever going to be alike.
As a graphic designer, I love to create and develop brands for clients. From initial concept to the final product, I work to create timeless content that transcends what's typical in today's market.
